Welcome to MDance Company - the epiphany of every dancer is to become an integral part of a Dance Company. Since 2019 we pride ourselves by producing Enchanting, Engaging, and Dynamic performances throughout the country.
Young and aspiring dancers are welcome to audition for the Junior Company to bring them a step closer to the professional world of Dance.
WHY JAZZ DANCE?
Jazz dance is a dynamic and expressive dance style that combines elements from different dance styles, including jazz, modern dance, ballet and hip-hop. It is characterised by rhythmic movements, creative choreography and a high level of expressiveness. Here are some key characteristics of jazz dance:
VARIETY OF STYLES
Jazz dance encompasses a wide range of techniques and styles that have evolved over time. This includes classic jazz movements, modern interpretations and influences from other dance forms.
RHYTHM & MUSICALITY
Jazz dance emphasises rhythm and musicality. Dancers learn to move in harmony with the music and to interpret different musical styles.
EXPRESSION & EMOTION
Jazz dance enables dancers to express their emotions and tell stories through movement. The choreographies are often very expressive and invite personal feelings to be incorporated into the performance.
TECHNIQUE & BODY CONTROL
In order to perform the various movements of jazz dance, a solid body control is essential.
CREATIVITY
Jazz dance encourages dancers to be creative. Dancers often develop their own choreographies or reinterpret existing pieces, which brings out the individual style of each dancer.
PERFORMANCES
Jazz dance is often presented in the form of group or solo performances. Performances are an important part of jazz dance and offer dancers the opportunity to show off their skills in front of an audience.
SOCIALISING
Many jazz dance groups promote a strong sense of community among the members. Joint rehearsals, workshops and performances strengthen cohesion and create friendships.
